The Supreme Court will hear on Monday, September 1, 2025, the RJD and AIMIM’s pleas for extending the deadline to file claims and objections in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.The Supreme Court, which heard today the RJD and AIMIM’s pleas for extending the deadline to file claims and objections in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar, directed the Bihar Legal Services Authority chairperson to activate para legal volunteers to help individuals and political parties to submit claims, objections and corrections in every district across the State.Seeking direction to the poll panel for extending the timeline by two weeks and accepting the claims of deleted voters till September 15, the RJD said the Election Commission of India’s daily SIR update showed the number of claims had increased with over a lakh claims filed in the last week, and 33,349 filed in the past two days.As the Election Commission of India (ECI) started issuing notices this week to Bihar voters whose documents have not been found satisfactory during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, officials told The Hindu that most of these cases have been identified in border districts such as East Champaran, West Champaran, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, and Supaul.
